Recruiters reach you here, and you can start a conversation from anyone's card in Recruiter Search or the Feed. Replies in this prototype are simulated — nothing sends off your device.

Prototype · Build 0.1

The engineering-specific job platform — feedback first, connections second.

Engineers submit a resume and cover letter, get a scored, research-backed critique before anyone sees it, then get discovered by recruiters and apply in one click. Every rule in the feedback engine is sourced from real hiring-manager and recruiter data — see the Research tab.

30s
avg. time a hiring manager scans a resume before deciding to keep reading
51%
of employers say co-op/internship experience beats GPA as the deciding factor
+15–25%
reported pay premium for engineers holding a relevant certification (e.g. Lean Six Sigma)
Three lanes, one profile

How the platform fits together

One engineering profile powers all three surfaces — build it once in Resume Review.

①

Get graded, not guessed at

Paste a resume or cover letter and get a category-by-category score — quantified impact, achievement language, formatting, tailoring — with the exact lines to fix.

②

Get found by recruiters

A graded, complete profile surfaces higher in recruiter search. Recruiters filter by discipline, experience and location and message engineers directly.

③

Apply in one click

Postings pull straight from your graded profile — no re-typing a resume into a portal for every job.

Feedback engine

Resume & cover letter review

Upload your actual file and it gets graded on how it reads and how it's put together — typography, structure, length, and whether an applicant tracking system can parse it. Loaded with an example so you can see the output right away.

Recruiter-only

Your job preferences

Set once here. This is only ever shown to recruiters searching Recruiter Search — never to other engineers, and never on anything you'd hand someone as a resume. Your location and career path live in Settings now — they drive Local rankings from there.

Search engineer profiles

Engineers on Torque, newest first. The 🔒 Recruiter-only panel on each card — relocation, pay minimum, non-compete status, top strengths — is set by the engineer. Email and phone are never shown on a card: only verified recruiters can look them up, only for engineers marked open to work, and every lookup is logged.

Job board — easy apply

Analyze a resume in Resume Review first, then applying here reuses that profile instead of re-typing anything.

My applications

Every job you've Easy Applied to — from the Job Board or from a company's page in Rankings — in one place, with where it stands. Status updates here are simulated — in the full product an employer's own action (or your Track Record) would move these automatically. Saved on this device.

Where to aim

Company rankings

Ranked by estimated pay for now. Employee ratings and how fast a company answers applicants get added as verified Track Record reviews come in — nothing here is invented. Pay ranges are estimates, not figures from these companies.

Two-way trust

Track record

Only a company an engineer actually worked for, or an engineer a company actually employed, can leave a review here — no anonymous drive-by ratings on either side.

How this stays fair: a company's review of an engineer is attributed and reads like a reference check — the engineer can post a public response right next to it, visible to anyone who reads that review, from their own reviews list below. An engineer's review of a company is shown by role and dates, not name, so a bad review can't cost someone their next reference at that employer.

What the grading rules are based on

Condensed from hiring-manager surveys, recruiter interviews and engineering-education research — full write-up saved to the project.

Resume scan
Hiring managers scan in a Z-pattern in ~30 seconds: title, tenure, education, skills first. If those don't land, the rest often isn't read.
Top rejection triggers
Sub-12-month job hops with no context, duty-only language, technology-dumping, resume/LinkedIn mismatches, typos, oversharing personal info.
Cover letters
One page. Named hiring manager when possible. One specific project story beats a list of traits. Tailored beats generic — reviewers cite generic letters as the top complaint.
ABET accreditation
Matters heavily for licensure-track disciplines (civil, structural — most states require it to sit the PE exam). Matters far less for software/CS-adjacent and many industrial/manufacturing roles, where employers weight demonstrated skill higher.
Experience vs. GPA
~51% of surveyed employers pick co-op/internship experience as the deciding factor vs. ~13% for GPA alone, once a minimum GPA screening floor is cleared.
Certifications
Especially in manufacturing/industrial: Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) is the field's broad-recognition credential; Lean Six Sigma (Green → Black Belt) is widely requested; ASQ CQE matters in regulated industries.
